A Message from Dr. Michael Wirth-Davis, President and CEO of Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota

July is Disability Pride Month to recognize the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990 [which protects people from discrimination]. Over 70% of the people we serve have one or more disabilities, and we’ve been helping people enter or advance in Minnesota’s workforce since 1919.

Julio is a talented and valued employee at Eagan Hy-Vee since using our services in 2018, and needed minor accommodations for his sight impairment to thrive. Not all disabilities are visible.

“The hardest part is dealing with a disability that’s not physically visible, it’s mental, so I have to advocate for my disability verbally.” Elizabeth applied her passion for helping people to thrive in a new career at the YMCA.

Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota is always evolving to meet people where they are to find a fulfilling career. I’d like to share some of our current work in the community:

  • A new program catalog with all our services is now available online – check out how we might be able to support you or a loved one.
  • Our nonpartisan voter registration resources make voting more accessible for the upcoming November election.
  • This month we’re launching a community campaign to invite everyone to use our workforce services. Look for us around the light rail, on billboards and get connected with our services.

Our work to connect people to meaningful work is never done, and as an employer we support practices that work for everyone.

“I am Goodwill” employee profiles shine a light on employees who embody our mission.

Rachel was hired full-time as a store processor after participating in Goodwill’s vocational rehabilitation program. She just celebrated her 10-year work anniversary!

Employment is multi-faceted and it looks different for everyone. We see every job seeker and we’re working tirelessly toward a Minnesota economy that works for everyone.

Employment is multi-faceted, and it looks different for everyone. We see you. And we are here to help people who want to enter or advance in Minnesota’s workforce, in May and every day.
